ANNUAL GIVING - April 1 update: Through the end of March, 287 classmates - representing 26% of our class - have donated $247,000. We continue to march toward our goal of 55% participation and $575,000 in total giving. So, we’re almost halfway to achieving our goals, with three months remaining in this year’s campaign ending June 30th.
Leading the charge with me are Rick Grove, who is responsible for overall participation, and Leon Kalvaria, who is chairing our Special Gifts Committee leading up to our 30th Reunion. Supporting Rick and Leon is a large cadre of volunteers numbering more than 40 classmates. Please respond with a contribution – at whatever level is comfortable for you – when someone reaches out to you by phone, email, and/or letter to participate.
As you know, AG is a key element of the five-year Aspire campaign. Annual Giving provides the opportunity for everyone who cares about Princeton to participate in helping to meet the University's highest priorities on a regular basis. Contributions to AG provide unrestricted funds for many key strategic initiatives - including financial aid and support of many academic and innovative research programs - that might otherwise not attract funding on their own. Moreover, AG is a largely volunteer effort involving a large number of our classmates; as such, it embodies the spirit and sense of shared community unlike almost any other effort among '79ers.
-- Don Seitz, Annual Giving Chair
Editor's note: We are currently 19th on the all-time class giving list, with more than $12.5 million in total AG contributions (which does not include such gifts as Bill Powers' $10.5 million 2 years ago, and Anthony Lee's $4 million gift this year)! We were in the top 10 after our 25th and hopefully will be again after our 30th. We have set records for AG for 14 straight years, and still hold the records for the 26th, 27th and 28th. The record for the 29th is within our reach. Don't let the string end!
